May 6 Rahway, NJ- In the Eclipse's first ever overhand match, the Elkton club held its own in a great match that went back in forth until the bottom of the 6th inning when the Grays managed to break out for 6 runs and then hold Elkton scoreless in the 7th and final frame. Playing by 1884 rules, the Eclipse picked up the overhand game quite nicely even having several leads throughout the game until secuming to several errors in the 6th to allow Providence to escape with the victory. A big thank you to the Elizabeth Resolutes for setting up the match and providing a field and umpire for the game. A 1864 game was attempted but only went 3 innings as time ran out as Providence had a scheduled 3:00pm start with Elizabeth because the match between the two was rained out the day before.
