(From the Muffins Newsletter)

Buckeye Club Bests Muffins
Saturday saw the Buckeyes from Cincinnati travel northward to open the 27th season of base ball on the Meadow. Despite tallying four aces in their first strikes, the Muffin club was unable to match the steady scoring of the boys from Porkopolis. No Muffin runner reached farther than third base until the 8th inning when a brief Muffin rally plated two final aces. The Buckeye bats, by contrast, started slowly but began to put wood to leather tallying 3 aces in the 3rd inning, 4 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th, 4 in the 7th and a final run in the 9th to claim a 14-6 victory. Upon retiring to the beer garden, both clubs were treated to a fine repast of meat sandwiches, sweets and drink.

Village Club Defeats Mules
A beautiful Sunday afternoon brought the Mules of Fulton to Ohio Village to complete a full weekend of matches. Just as they had done the prior day, the Muffins pushed four aces home in their first, but unlike Saturday, the local club continued to tally with aces with 4 in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th, 3 in the 6th and ending with 4 final aces in the 9th. Matched with fine play in the field, the Muffins were able to contain the Mules to but 5 runs on the day. Another post-match meal of sandwiches, baked goods and beverages was enjoyed under sunny April skies.
