![]() November 21, 2006 Hello Fellow Ballists, Good News….Bad News….Website Changes….and the Conference Let’s start with VBBA’s 12th annual conference, April 13-15th, 2007. This year it will be hosted by the Douglas Dutcher’s in Douglas, Michigan. Their website indicates they have four presenters lined up. The Saturday guest speaker will be Dr. William Anderson. Sunday there will be our business meeting, followed by a Brew Tour and a Vineyard tour. As for the website changes, Billy Pollifrone, our webmaster, has made it more accessible to the Full Club Members to make changes to their VBBA site content. He has indicated: “The VBBA website is now controlled by an open-source CMS system for the main entry points and most member services. This change allows members to edit the content of the site without the need of the webmaster. Many internally linked pages are still static html pages, but will be moved to CMS control as well in the future.” Good news this year, our expenses were minimal during 2006 so by polling the voting member clubs it was determined dues will not be necessary during 2007 for current members. If any of your information changes throughout the year, please contact me to update my mailing list records in addition to making your change on the website. Remember, in order to be a full club member in good standing, you must submit results from at least 6 club matches. Bob Tholkes, our historian, has been collecting this information. Bad news, well it goes along hand in hand with the good news. Generally our largest expenditure is our newsletter. Based on some comments I’ve heard, we’re missing those publications. We are looking for someone to step forward and volunteer to spear-head this task. Please contact one of our officers if you would be interested. Thank you for your continued membership and support of the VBBA, hope you can make it to the annual conference. Sincerely, Richard D. Blasick Treasurer VBBA |
