Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park, located in Northwest Arkansas, will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2008. We are interested in having a vintage base ball tournament July 12-13, 2008 at the park using the 1860's rules sets. We are trying to get a feel for how many, if any, clubs might be interested in participating. If interested, please contact Alan Thompson... alan.thompson@arkansas.gov

World Tournament of Historic Base Ball, August 1 -3, 2008 Greenfield Village (Dearborn, MI, outside of Detroit) is hosting the 6th Annual World Tournament of Historic Base Ball. The tournament features a bracket-style championship series with 16 clubs guaranteed to play at least three games. A Champion and Reserve Champion are awarded in the two classes. The Greenfield Village tournament is based on the original World’s Tournament of Base Ball, hosted by the Detroit Base Ball Club, played in Detroit in 1867. As in the original 1867 tournament, awards are presented for Champion, Reserve Champion, Farthest Distance Traveled, Finest Uniform, and Best Captain as well as a prize-laden skills competition for most accurate thrower, fastest runner and farthest thrown ball.

Each participating club will receive: • stipend for their participation • participant buttons per active participant (allows admission to both Greenfield Village AND to the Henry Ford Museum for the weekend and following Monday --see www.thehenryford.org for more about the museum and Village • Discount coupons for additional food and rides • Lunches for active participants. • Additional amenities and packages are being developed for participating clubs and their families.

Other items: • Each club is guaranteed 3 games (more depending on performance in the brackets) • Current and retired Baseball players and legends • Original base ball artifacts on display including the 1867 World’s Tournament first place rosewood trophy bat and an 1867 Haney’s Base Ball Book of Reference. • Other base ball related activities and programming
