Woodstock Actives

Location
Woodstock, ON
Primary Rules Used
1860

The Woodstock Actives Base Ball Club plays Civil War Era base ball matches using rules codified in 1860. The Actives wear authentic uniforms of the period modelled after the 1879 Canadian championship team. We are based in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada; an area which boasts the first recorded base ball game ever played. The current edition of the Actives began as a challenge extended from Woodstock's sister city Sylvania, Ohio, U.S.A.. Since July 1st, 1993, the Great Black Swamp Frogs Travel north to challenge the Actives on Canada Day. The Actives then return to Sylvania for July 4th to repeat the challenge. The victor is awarded a championship bucket. Throughout the season the Actives also participate at various tournaments such as the London Vintage Days (London, Ontario, Canada) and the Sylvania Cup (U.S.A.). Our goals are entertainment and education through Gentlemanly competition. HUZZAH!!!
