The Saint Croix Base Ball Club is named after a club that was formed in 1867 and claimed the state championship in 1868. The St. Croix River divides the states of Minnesota and Wisconsin for most of its length, and is the source of the name. The home city, Stillwater, lies on this river. The revived St. Croix Base Ball Club was formed in 1998 by Brent “Skinny” Peterson of the Washington County Historical Society to defend the honor of the St. Croix Valley and the National Pastime. Their home field is the Old Athletic Field in Stillwater, Minnesota, the same field used by the original St. Croix nine, however most of their match games are played in other parts of the county and state.
