"FOR THE GLORY OF THE GAME"

ST LOUIS PERFECTOS (Founded 2002)

The team takes its name from the 1899 St Louis National League Franchise. They had been

known as the St Louis Browns (1892) and went on to become the St Louis Cardinals in 1900.

LAFAYETTE SQUARE CYCLONE BASE BALL CLUB (Founded 2009)

The team takes its name from the 1860 Base Ball Club that played its games in Lafayette Square.

ST LOUIS BROWN STOCKINGS (Founded 2010)

The team takes its name from the first Professional Base Ball team in St Louis, 1875. This team folded in 1877. They re-started in the American Association

in 1882. They moved in 1892 to the NL and were renamed the, St Louis Browns. In 1899, they became The Perfectos and in 1900...THE CARDINALS!!!!

The GSLBBHS has been playing “Johnny Appleseed” in St Louis. Ballists from the GSLBBHS have “Planted” the following teams in the St Louis area.

  • St Louis Unions (2004): Brian “Ricochet” Robison
  • University City Lions (2007): Ed “Buffalo” Nickels
  • Lafayette Square Cyclone Base Ball Club (2009): Rick “Sting” Rea
  • St Louis Brown Stockings (2010): Tony "Lightning" Wicker

FESTIVALS

GSLBBHS hosts two annual festivals for two men who were pioneers in bringing the game to St Louis.
  • Shepard Barclay Festival: 05-06 June 2010 Corresponding with the Lafayette Square home tour.
  • Jeremiah Fruin Festival: 11 Sept 2010
