The Farmers Branch Mustangs were established in 2007 to provide historic reenactments of 1860s base ball games that the Farmers Branch Historical Park. The team name represents the heritage of the community as it was originally called Mustang Branch. However, the soil proved to be so fertile that the name was soon changed to Farmers Branch. Mustang uniforms have been copied from the Farmers Branch baseball team of 1908 for which pictorial documentation exists. The Farmers Branch Mustangs welcome new players 18 years of age or older. Prior knowledge of the game and an affinity for history are not requirements for team membership. With little instruction volunteer players are able to step onto the field and begin enjoying the camaraderie of America’s national pastime – and learn the history of the game along the way.
