HISTORICAL MULDOONS AND THE MULDOONS PLUS 7 TEAMSThe Coopersville historical Ambassadors was begun in 2005 by Norman Jahnke, a history buff after taking a needed trip to his daughters Vancouver Washington home and seeing the teams at Fort Vancouver national park play an 1860s game . a game between the Occidential and the military regulars re-enactors. Daughter Eileen Jahnke Trestain is a part of the Fort Vancouver team in the costuming department. He decided this vintage base ball thing had to return to Michigan. Plans were made to have 2 teams connected with the Coopersville historical SOC. With two teams it would be possible to develop added interest and get things started. The proposal was bought to the museum and the go ahead received. Norm learned that he was to late TO START THE FIRST Michigan team as Gordon Olson had gotten teams started in grand rapids, mi and there was already a Vintage Base Ball Assoc formed. He also learned that the soc could only sanction the idea and could not sponsor such due to financial restraints place ON THE SOC ., The first Match was played in Coopersville during Summerfest 2005 and we were on our way. WITH GREAT HELP FROM THE MUSEUM CURATORS Jim & LIL Budzynski a photo of the Mighty Muldoons of 1860 which played in Coopersville for at least 3 year was available, the uniforms scrutinized (which the Historical Muldoons proudly wear) and a list of names of the 1860 team was also furnished. The team became members of the Vintage Base Ball Assoc in 2005. The dream of a second team did not materialize until the fall of 2007 a second team and a club was formed at the winter meeting. Chuck Zimmer, who had been a team captain, was elected as the first club president. 2008 shall be the first year as a NON PROFIT organization. The plus seven team will soon have uniforms of the 1900 style when baseball started to become professional and uniform flair became a normal thing. Vintage Base Ball is a natural fit for Coopersville as it is also home for a mid 1900 farm museum, as well as an operational passenger train of the 1950 era. The Summerfest is a week-long event honoring Del Shannon with the Del Shannon Car show. Del Shannon grew up in Coopersville and was a well known entertainer of the 1950s. Many other events take place in Coopersville over the summer period and our home games correspond with those events. Memorial day, Summerfest, The great train robber and Fallfest. 2008 schdule: historical muldoons and muldoons +7
